Decorating the Play Room

I'm having way too much fun decorating my LO's play room. (aka the office we temporarily stole from Daddy) I found these wall decorations at Michael's - so cute and easy to put up and perfect for this room because when we do turn it back into the office, everything peels right off. I also found some cute frames on sale - perfect for a play room - bright colors, plastic frames - and they were only $2.50. I figured it would be a nice alternative to a cork board to display his artwork.

Get a good look because I'm sure I will move everything around a hundred times by tonight... then it will all be in the exact same spot as when I started. :p

Bath & Body Works Deals and New Movies

I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day weekend filled with chocolate, flowers, stuffed animals and oh yea... lots and lots of LOVE!

Hubby and I were able to sneak out to a movie together since the in-laws were nice enough to come up for a visit and babysit - thanks! We saw Confessions Of A Shopaholic. It was SO cute and I really enjoyed it. A definite chick flick but that's what Valentine's Day is all about - dragging your man to a girlie movie and eating lots of popcorn together! Both of the leading characters in it were just adorable and had great chemistry together. I'm a little too lazy to do a real review tonight but trust me, it was cute! lol Oh and Hugh Dancy??? Yum!

We did some shopping before the movie and I found some great sales at Bath & Body Works. They had a whole section of lotions, body wash, body splash, etc that were 75% off! I picked up a couple bottles of Midnight Pomegranate just because I had never used that scent before and the tester smelled SO good. Turns out the only reason they're on sale is because they decided to change the style of the bottle. So right next to the ones on sale were the regularly priced, new bottles for $10.50 each. Mine were marked $9.50 and after they took off 75% they came to about $2.50 each! I'll glady take the old bottle for that price. I was just glad it wasn't being discontinued. Every time I find a scent I like, they stop making it. (Yes, I'm talking to you Yankee Candle who stopped making LAVENDER candles!!!)

We also watched a newly purchased dvd tonight, one we missed at the theaters, Baby Momma. It was pretty funny and I was really happy with the ending and how they wrote it all out - even if it was a little predictable. The previews really made it look like a foul, raunchy kind of movie but it wasn't at all. It had a good moral, happy ending, yadda yadda. I liked it. Of course I like Tina Fey so maybe I'm partial.

Anyway, that's all my reporting for today! Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead. I'm off to check out some blogs now. :)

Sick Bubby & His Favorite Puzzle

My little man is sick today. He woke up from yesterdays nap not feeling well so I took him into the doctors this morning. Most likely a virus and I hope it doesn't get worse. He had pneumonia over the holidays and I do NOT want to go there again. Poor little guy was miserable!

On sick days he loves to snuggle and play with momma and of course I love it. He likes to get all his books and puzzles out and cuddle up with me. One of his favorite things right now is a new puzzle we bought the other day. He's right at that age where he is starting to learn shapes and colors so I found this Melissa & Doug First Shapes Jumbo Puzzle. I love wooden toys, especially Melissa & Doug stuff!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Tonight is LOST! Yay!!!

Eddie Bauer In-Store Deals

By the looks of this blog I look like a shopaholic - I promise I'm not but there are just so many good deals out there right now! Usually the end of season sales are pretty good but this year I think they're really making them insanely good due to the crappy economy.

Eddie Bauer is having an awesome sale - %50 off already marked down clearance items. So anything that is clearance get's another %50 off! They have tons of winter stuff - pants, jeans, cords, sweaters, jackets, etc but the best deal I found was on the pants. They had an entire rack of jeans, cords, cargos and khakis that were all marked $19.99. So after the extra %50 off they came to $10! SUCH a good deal for Eddie Bauer quality.

I ended up with the Classic Fit Boot Cut Corduroys in Sage. Original price was $49.50 and they were on sale for $10.

And another thing I'm noticing is that some companies are offering these deals in store - not online. The same ones I got today in the store are selling for $19.99 online.

Happy Shopping!

Shoe & Movie - aholic

So I just couldn't keep myself away from Sears today while we were at the mall. lol I went back and got hubby a pair of the zip up shoes from Lands End and got another lace up style for myself - can't beat $13 bucks!!!

I also saw He's Just Not That Into You. Very cute, chick flick. I really enjoyed it and was happy that all the good people had good things happen to them and all the rotten people had rotten things happen to them. lol I will try to write a review on it later but if you're looking for a Valentine's flick to see with your sweetie pie this year - this is a good one. Plus, gotta love that it took place in Baltimore, right on the water.

Anyway, that's about all from me for today. Hope you're all enjoying some of this gorgeous weather we're having!

Creamy Chicken with Herbs & Rice - Crockpot Recipe

I've found I'm on the crock pot kick again. Maybe it's the cooler weather, maybe it's the convenience... maybe it's the great smell that fills the entire house while dinner slowly cooks all day long. Tonight I'm making my own creation so we'll see how it turns out. It's not that original but whatever! :)

Creamy Chicken with Herbs & Rice

Ingredients:

1 package of boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 can of Campbell's Cream of Chicken with Herbs condensed soup
1 medium onion cut into large chunks
1 cup of brown rice
1 cup of water
1 cup of milk
1 tablespoon of butter
A little salt & pepper

Directions:

Put the chicken in the crock pot first. Mix soup and milk in a separate bold until well blended. Then add rice, onion, water, butter, salt, pepper and soup mixture to crock pot and cook on high for about 4 hours. I would have cooked it lower and longer but I started late.

This recipe is so easy and the chicken will come out SO moist. It will probably be too juicy and tender to even get out of the crock pot in one piece so I usually just mix everything up before serving.

For a side I'm making salad and/or green beans. Mmmmm! And now I must go because I'm drooling all over the keyboard.

Momma's Movie Reviews - Taken (2008)

I saw two movies today - Taken and Last Chance Harvey. Thank goodness for long nap times and husbands who are gracious enough to give momma some ME time.

I wasn't too keen on seeing Taken (was hoping to see The Reader) but it fell at just the right time. I figured Liam Neeson isn't half bad to stare at plus his accent = lovely. Maggie Grace from LOST starred as his daughter and honestly she annoys me. She's a fine actress but maybe I just have some issues with her from LOST. lol

So to sum up the movie - Neeson plays the father, Bryan Mills, who is estranged from his wife and daughter. He's trying to make up for lost time by getting to know his daughter in her last year home before she heads to college. Darling daughter, Kim wants to go to Paris, France with a friend and against his better judgment, dad lets her go. But not before giving her a rundown of all his instructions. See, he's a bit paranoid because he is in the business of protecting people so he knows what can go wrong. And turns out daddy was right. As soon as they get off the plane they make friends with a cute, little French boy (aka pervert) - smart girls - who later breaks into their apartment and kidnaps them. We later learn they've been snatched up by some evil guys who are into sex trafficking dumb, young girls who talk to strangers in forgeign lands and don't listen to their fathers.

Long story short, this leads dad on a quest to find his daughter at all costs. I wish I had brought a ticker with me to keep count of just how many people Liam Neeson's character killed or injured because I'm pretty sure it was up in the 400 range. lol He's a very well trained man who is fortunate to meet a lot of bad guys with really bad aim... classic bad guy downfall. (Note to villians in training - TAKE A SHOOTING CLASS!) The movie was fast paced, action packed and I don't recall a boring moment.

Anyway, it was a very entertaining movie - even if it was a bit predictable and out there at times. I enjoyed it! I give it 4 out of 5 pieces of popcorn. :p

(I'll report on Last Chance Harvey later!)

Lands End Deals at Sears

It's that time of year again when Lands End (in Sears) marks down all their winter apparel. Right now they have everything an additional %50 off the sale prices. So when you see a red tag sale price, take another %50 off that! I love it! I love it even more when they mark everything down to take off an additional %70 off the sale price but that's not for a couple more months. Usually by then the shoes are all picked through so I wanted to pick up a pair today while I could still find my size!

I found these Women's Weatherly Shoes that zip up the front. I bought the khaki colored ones but they have a variety of different colors - black, brown, green, red, plum, orange and navy. Ticket price was $39.50 and sale price was $24.99 marked down another %50 to $12.50!!! I tried on a few different styles - they had many different ones on sale - but these were the most comfortable and very warm - great winter shoes. And you can't beat the price. I was tempted to buy another pair!

So, if you have a Sears near you definitely check it out because I think they will be picked through soon. And be sure to keep an eye out for the %70 mark downs!

Happy Shopping!

LOST Recap - Season 5, Episode 4 - The Little Prince

I just finished watching! Wow!

As I suspected (and hoped) Jin is NOT dead! He's been floating around in the ocean ever since the freighter exploded and apparently making the jumps in time along with the rest of the Losties. He was found by a raft full of French speaking folks that end up being Danielle and her people. A younger, pregnant with Alex, Danielle. So that pretty much tells us what time period they're in. It should be around 1988 I think. Poor Jin was floating face down in the ocean for the entire start of the season!? lol

Sawyer is showing his softer, Hallmark side and I like it. Even if it is a bit cheesy for him - I still love it. Heck, I even like Juliet! As they were walking through the jungle, they heard screaming - classic Claire screaming - and Sawyer crept up on her and Kate delivering the baby. Very sweet and I think very poignant - the birth of Aaron. I'm not sure why but I know the island "beamed" them to that time for a reason. I think every flash and every time they end up in is for a reason. We also saw the flash of light from the hatch. It was the same time period as when Aaron was being born.

Anyway, the rest of the freighter folk are wobbling around the jungle with bloody nose after bloody nose. Charlotte seems to be ok for now - or maybe she is dead and now a ghost - like Claire? lol The latest bloody nose victims are Miles and Juliet. I think it's affecting these three because of how long they've been on the island. I think Charlotte and Miles were born on the island and it's happening to Juliet because she has been there for so long.

Ben is still trying to recruit everyone back to the island and as suspected he was behind the lawyer showing up at Kate's house. His plan was to scare her into going back to the island.

Hurley only had a quick appearance from jail. I assume it was his one phone call and he made it to Jack, to check on Sayid... who can add another body to his "Guys I've Killed" list. As he was sipping his water in the hospital a man came in, posing as a nurse and tried to kill him. Of course Sayid has mad skills and he was one step ahead of him. In the guys pocket they found Kate's address and called to warn her. That lead to her and Jack having a little reunion where he would eventually try to convince her into going back...

Well, that's my rundown for now. Let me know how you all liked tonight's episode!

Losties

Nap time is almost over. My little prince will be beckoning me shortly. lol

Tonight is LOST night so we are gonna get in our jammies early and veg out. Well, as much as a 19 month old will veg out. Thank goodness for DVR! Hubby is traveling for work tonight so the DVR is especially needed on nights like tonight when there is no one else to entertain the little Bubby but me. :)

I really wish my friends and family lived closer so that we could have LOST parties! :) I'm such a dork and I don't even care! Muhaha!

This Just In

Daily Momma has a new blog and it needs a makeover in a bad way!

If anyone has any links to free backgrounds, headers or any other goodies, please post them here. I will dig some links up myself to share with everyone.

For those of you who have followed my other blog, you know the drill - total random updates from the Daily Momma. Preferably... DAILY! But of course as all mom's know that doesn't always happen.

In my early blogging days I never could decide on what type of blog I wanted - one that focuses on all my mom-ness and nothing else? How about a cooking blog? Music? Movies? A wife blog? Style blog? Photography blog? Or how about a blog that revolves around Morrissey? That right there could take up my entire day! :) So in the end I decided that my blog would be about EVERYTHING I enjoy. Movies, music, cooking, motherhood, wife... hood, shopping, shopping and more shopping... you get the idea.

I look forward to my regulars and even some new bloggers! Welcome!
